Staff Mobile Engineer – Independent Contractor (Remote, U.S.-Based)

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Mobile Engineer (Independent Contractor) to join our Software Development team. This fully remote position is only open to candidates based in the United States.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer with extensive cross-platform experience to lead the development and architecture of our mobile application, which is built using the Ionic Capacitor framework and Angular with TypeScript. In this role, you will drive feature planning and backend implementation while actively contributing to a fast-paced, cross-functional product cycle. What does this role involve?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture and development of mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX standards and guidelines for iOS and Android.
  • Collaborate with developers to define and integrate APIs.
  • Collaborate with designers, cross-functional stakeholders, and other engineers to deliver a product experience aligned with user expectations.
  • Ensure high performance, responsiveness, and quality of applications.
  • Help maintain code quality, including unit and integration testing.
  • Maintain ownership over various parts of the product.
  • Receive and offer technical feedback through pair programming and code reviews.
  • Leverage AI tools to improve data processing, predictive analytics, and core system performance.
  • Contribute to research technologies and fast prototyping, compose detailed design specifications.
  • Actively participate in root cause analysis on high complexity and high-severity issues.

What are we looking for in a candidate?

Experience and Requirements:

  • BS Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • 7+ years of experience in mobile/cross-platform development with a strong understanding of iOS, Android, and PWA platforms.
  • Proven experience building and deploying apps using the Ionic Capacitor framework.
  • Deep understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality iOS and Android applications to the App Store.
  • Ability to lead code reviews, document architectural decisions, and coach engineers on performance and maintainability.
  • Experience with secure storage, code obfuscation, and security best practices in hybrid mobile environments.
  • Experience balancing local and remote data representations to enable real-time interface interactions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on delivering high-quality documents.

 

Knowledge and Abilities required:

  • This position will require the ability to effectively troubleshoot and reason through problems to reach solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as the independent contractor will collaborate with various departments within the company.
  • This independent contractor must be able to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment and should be comfortable managing tasks under frequent tight deadlines.

 

Contractor Requirements

  • Must be based in the United States
  • Must provide own laptop and have a reliable internet connection

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Primarily sedentary: sitting (75%), walking (15%), standing (10%), lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Standard home/office environment; moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional travel required. Must be able to travel and work extended schedule as needed
